I would never have thought it possible to make unhealthy something inherently healthy like green beans. Then last night I went to TGI Friday's. I was foolish enough to order bean fries for my "appetizer", as part of a set menu deal.
I soon regretted my choice, despite the "cool creamy Cucumber-Wasabi Ranch dip" being almost as good as it sounds. No, some things just aren't meant to be deep-fried (cf. deep-fried mozzarella, available in Oz from Chili's). This may seem obvious to you at home but time and again I find that this is something Americans fail to grasp.

So Nick, what is your stance on deep-fried ice-cream? I haven't tried it, but Drew swears by it...
Obviously I ain't Nick. You can tell cos I'm not smart. But deep fried ice cream ain't all that great. Its alright, in my humble opinion, but I find its only as good as ice cream straight up anyway.
Summary - a more expensive way to enjoy ice cream.
I think I like fried ice-cream more than Baden, it's nice to occasionally have something a little exotic after a Chinese meal. But it's not that much better than normal ice cream, and you always get less of it.
It doesn't surprise me that Drew loves it. The bean fries incident reminded me of the time I went to Chili's with Drew and he 'dared' me to order the deep-fried mozzarella sticks for entrée, deep-fried steak for main and deep-fried ice-cream for dessert. I politely declined his challenge.
